It all begins so small, nearly indiscernible. God’s plans unfolding in your life can seem completely unidentifiable to your own eyes. You cannot always discern His movement… Sometimes there is a quietness to your faith that can only whisper, “I don’t even know if You’re there.” But all faith needs is a mustard seed, the quiet cry of a heart that can identify even what it cannot see.

“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed…” Matthew 17:20

That is the stuff great faith is made of.

The tiniest of seeds, the smallest of beginnings. In preparing for this missions trip, I didn’t see all the things God was doing beneath the surface of my life. Honestly, I felt a little stuck. I didn’t know for sure if I even had the faith to believe for great things.

But I had a tiny seed of hope. So I took that tiny seed, and I planted it, and I began to bathe it in prayer.

How little He allowed to be seen on the surface…

It was a slow and steady process, as one would think any great measure of sowing and reaping would be. How often, though, have I given up and walked away before I saw the harvest? Oh, my soul, do not lost sight of the goodness of the LORD. For in the end you will reap a harvest of righteousness if you do not give up.

Perseverance purifies faith. And faith that is pure can more clearly see God, for all His goodness and mercy and grace. Grace upon grace…the favor and blessing of God…until it completely soaks your soul.

Saturate us, O LORD, with your blessing and your presence.
