I’m 26 years old and I currently live in Delaware. My younger brother and I are adopted. I was born and raised in Sierra Vista, Arizona, but I moved from my small town when I was 21 to be a live in nanny in Maryland. I took a break from school to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Pretty soon after I moved to the East Coast I got offered a Cross Country Scholarship to Wilmington University. I eventually gave up my Nanny job to go back to school and run Cross Country. I commuted an hour from Maryland to Delaware for my first two years of school. I’ve been taken in six times by all kinds of different families and have lived in three different states since I moved to the East Coast six years ago.
I just walked on May 18 with my Bachelor of Science in Studio Production – Television and Journalism from Wilmington University. I also have my Associate of Science in Media Art, Design, and Technology. I started my Master’s program this past fall and ran my last season of cross country. I’m currently taking a break from grad school and focusing on raising funds and preparing for the World Race in July.
In my Cross Country career at Wilmington University I’ve earned the MVP and Wildcat award. I’ve also been three time CACC All Conference (4th, 10th,& 12th place) at the Championship race in Philly. My best time for a 5k race was 18:51. As you can tell I love to run!
My biggest passion is helping people because it comes so naturally to me. I’ve been on other short term mission trips to Mexico, Africa, and Vietnam. Most of these trips were for a couple weeks but they have changed my life. My favorite out of these places was Africa. I fell in love with the people and the culture!
Words can’t express how excited I am to go on the World Race! I love the idea of traveling to 11 different countries for 11 months. This is going to be quite the adventure. I’m so ready to be done with the routine life and do what we as Christians were called to do. I’m humbled for the opportunity to do God’s work and glorify him.
I’ve been feeling God’s calling to do something this big for awhile but I’ve been waiting for the right time and I believe my time is now! I’ll have to abandon all fears, worries, running, school, accomplishments, worldly possessions, and being able to see my family and friends. I believe God has been prepping me my whole life for this opportunity.
