Here goes nothin'. I have been rather fortunate thus far in my journey these past 9 months. I was accepted onto The World Race on Jan. 21, 2012 and three days later I became injured and could not work. Knowing I had some where around $20,000 to earn/raise for this journey God had called me to, I was very confused as to how God wanted me to do this on my own if I couldn't work. As you can imagine, exactly how I thought this process was going to work is not at all how God planned it to work. Obviously God had planned this and every mission to be about more than just the journey of the person He's sending. God showed me favour and grace and blessed me with many people who saw Gods vision of this mission and how He needed them just as much as He needed me. Like I said, I have been very fortunate thus far and have been blessed by many people with the financial support I have needed to make our mission possible.
But what some people know yet don't really know is that there are 51 other people on this journey along with me. I'm sure it isn't too hard to believe not everyone has had the favour and blessing which I have been most fortunate to have. I don't know how much you know about World Race life, but here is a glimpse into the reality. Those 50 something people who were brave enough to accept Gods call and were blessed enough to end up on the field get split up into what we have come to call families aka teams. When you spend 11 months living very close to and doing life every day with 5-6 people, you truly do become a family. And anyone who is close to their family can tell you, what one person feels, you all feel. So here's the thing, on my team there is and beautiful young woman of God. Her name is Carmella Nicholson or Carm. Carm is one of those persons whom I was describing up there ^^ when I was talking about less fortunate in favour and blessing, financially anyway. We have a dead line coming up on Oct. 1, 2012, at which point Carm, along with all the Racers on our squad need to have $11,000. Carm is currently around $3,500 short of making this deadline.
Imagine, here we are as a family having to face the reality of the possibility of Carm going home at the end of this month and our family losing one of its members. Now obviously what is going through Carm's mind is so much greater than what we can even fathom, which is why I encourage all of you to read her blog on this very topic. carmellanicholson.theworldrace.org But what I can do for her and for our family is try to express to you my gratitude for all of your blessings of prayer and financial support but kindly ask you to spread such blessings to my sister Carm. This might sound a little arrogant, but stick with me. Our family has become an inspiration for other teams because I truly believe we have been given favour from the Father who has made us such a close family. Losing a member of this family would wreck us and totally alter the lifestyle we have adopted on this journey.
As much as God needs me to be here for Him and has called you all to support and bless me, this isn't just my journey. This journey belongs to the 500 World Racers that are on the field at any given time. Carmella is one of those Racers, and she deserves this journey just as much as any one of us. "They have told the church here of your loving friendship. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner which pleases God. For they are traveling for the Lord, and they accept nothing from people who are not believers. So we ourselves should support them so we can be their partners as they teach the truth." 3 John 1:6-8 If it is in your ability I humbly ask you to transfer your blessings from me this month to my sister Carmella.
As He leads me,
Jason
