This is a letter to my father. It’s for anyone who has struggled with relationships with their parents. There is so much to learn from God. I’ve experienced pain and heartbreak. Through it all God taught me to love unconditionally. God taught me to be a peacemaker. If the situation is hard God will surely deliver you, and teach you something you never expected. God is so good through it all.
There is so much to say. There are so many words I don’t know how to write down. It’s difficult to keep it all together as I try to type this for you. But there’s just so much I need to tell you.
I just need to start with
I love you.
And you’re forgiven.
Dad you need to know, I love you very much. I know so much has kept our relationship a mess. So much has kept us apart. But I don’t want to leave soon without making this known to you. I don’t want to leave without a relationship with you. There is no way to do that without trusting in God. Trusting in his miracle power. God has put you on my heart. You’ve been on my heart for the longest time. As often as I remember I pray for you. I pray that God will Bring you back to him. I pray that he will drag you if he has to. Dad I just want you to know that your relationship with God is so important to me. Your spiritual health means so much to me. You are important to me.
Dad I just pray that you realize who you are. I hope you realize how loved you are. You aren’t bound by the shackles of your failures. You aren’t tied down by the sin in your life. God wants you dad. He is waiting with open arms, waiting for you to run to him. Just press into him please.
Life is hard. It’s so hard for all of us. I just want you to realize there is no need to look for comfort elsewhere. Please realize that we love you. We want you to be with us. We want you to love on us. We need you to lead us. But there is only one way that can happen. Trust in God. Give Him your everything. Don’t hold back on him and he won’t hold back on you. Please don’t run because it gets difficult. Please.
I promise you there is absolutely no greater love. There is absolutely no greater peace. I promise you with all my heart God will not disappoint. Dad I love you.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
Dad, don’t be afraid to become who you are meant to be. Don’t be afraid to love on the Lord. Love on your mom. Love on Emily. Love on Lawrence. Love on Mom. Love on me. Don’t be afraid, but be gentle our wounds are still healing. Our hearts still need to recover. Pray and ask for a way, ask for reconciliation. Ask God to change your heart. He changed my heart. Give him yours and watch Him work wonders in this family. Watch Him work miracles. But please just trust that He can and will do these things in time. Pray continually for them. Pray unceasingly. Never stop praying. It is your strongest weapon. Dad I love you and I am praying for you.
I won’t give up on you.
