“If the World Race is where God called you, run towards it with reckless abandon”
These are the words of one of my good friends. I didn’t know how to handle the worries of fundraising. The worries of whether or not this was what I was supposed to do. Her advice to me was to fast, give it up to God and accept anything his answer is whether to stay or go. I fasted. I read my bible, I listened to worship music and the bible all day. I wanted God to answer me. I wanted a “Go!” or a “Stay.” answer, from a big booming voice in the heavens. That’s not how He answered me.
The day I fasted, I also started reading Crazy Love (if you haven’t read it, I already recommend it) and within the first few pages I got my answer.
“We forget that God never had an identity crisis. He knows that He’s great and deserves to be the center of our lives. Jesus came humbly as a servant, but He never begs us to give Him some small part of ourselves. He commands everything from His followers.”
He commands everything.
With that said I am willing to run to this calling that God has put on my heart.
I will pour out my heart and soul to go on this Mission Trip!
I will fundraise and work hard in order to do what the Lover of my soul wants!
I will run towards his calling with reckless abandon!
I will throw caution to the wind and do what He wants!
In my devotional today, I was reminded again to run passionately. I read a passage in Hebrews. Here it is: Hebrews 12:1-3:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
I was reminded to keep my eyes on Him. I know that only through Him can I accomplish anything, because God is so very good. He is something we should run to with passion, a fiery burning passion. Like the passion of a thousand burning suns. A passion only He is worthy of. When we give Him ourselves, He will not disappoint.
Thank you so much for taking your time and reading this. I hope that you will continue to pray for me and the people on my team. If God puts it on your heart please support me! I can’t do this without your help! God Bless you, friends!
