On July 30th i will be flying into the JFK airport in New York City!! I can’t believe in a bout 2 months I will be back home with AC, a variety of food within a 10 min drive, wifi at my house, and people that speak English!
These months have been amazing, stretching and a once in a life time experience. I wouldn’t trade any moment of it. I’ve had the chance to love on orphans, feed the homeless, volunteer at different organizations and ministries, do manual labor and just live life apart from the comforts of home.
I now have family all over the world. It has been hard to say bye to my mother’s, father’s, brother’s and sister’s all over the world, but I know that I will see them again. They have taught me so much and have allowed me to experience a part of their culture. God has taught me what it means to have a unified family that is based on His love. I loved being able to see the smiles of the children and the hope in the eyes of the broken hearted. This year has been incredible.
My lunch on a plate 🙂
Within these past months I’ve:
-had to share the bed or floor with 1 or more people
-went to the bathroom in the bushes with my squad
-got walked in on while on the squatty
-had to put my headphones in my ears, close my eyes and
pretend like no one was around
– got walked in on while on the squatty, again…after a
while it didn’t really phase me anymore.
– had to squish ~30 people into vehicles meant for 15-20
people.
– had to travel for days straight
– had to shower when it rained….
-had malaria, typhoid and a parasite all at the same time…Oh Tanzania, i will never forget that month!
Now after 11months i will be coming back to the US what culture shock that will be! I’m excite though. Up next Romania…
Also, the money I fundraised for the world race does not cover my flight home from New York to California so if any of you are interested in contributing to my flight home I would appreciate it. Just click on contact me in column on the left hand side and let me know if you would like to help me out 🙂 thank you!
