Who knew I would bathe in the lake, participate in the squad olympics, cry my eyes out, smell like a wet dog, worship for 3 hours straight and come to love a random group of strangers as my new family all in just 8 short days! I am proud to say that I am part of the R squad !! woo hoo!! I am pleased to announce that the team I will be traveling the world and living with for the next 11 months is *drum roll* …Team SEGULLAH!!
These awesome woman are my new sisters for life! Our name is Hebrew and it means chosen, set apart and treasured possession. As an all women team we are so ready to serve in places where co-ed teams can not serve. We will be able to serve and minister to women and children within in the brothels of India and Thailand… We will be able to show the women and children that there are people that care and recognize their pain. We want to show them that they are LOVED and that there are ways out!
India has been on my heart for so long. Ever since I went there 2 years ago I’ve been feeling a pull at my heart to serve the people within that country. When I pray I see the face of a little girl. Her eyes are big, her hair is short and messy and she is absolutely adorable! India, India is constantly on my mind.
These past few months God has been highlighting the number 8 to me. I was not quite sure what this number meant but i kept it in mind. At training camp we were told that our route changed. As I was writing down the new route in my journal I began to count all the countries to make sure i didn’t miss one and guess what?…..India was the eighth country we are going to! I then figured out what month that was and it’s my birthday month, April! When I found out that our team name Segullah is mentioned only 8 times in the bible and has 8 letters in it I was so encouraged. Also, my family suffered for 8 years, but I feel like this 8 month on the race will be the month of more break through and blessings.
So this may be like no big deal to most people, but I’ve learned to pay attention to the little things because that’s where God reveals himself the most. For instance a few times I’d be praying to God broken and nervous about how much I need to fundraise and then I randomly check the time and guess what?….it’s 11:11 (11 countries in 11 months) I get so excited! I see it as God encouraging me. You can call it coincidence and overlook everything or you can see it as God highlighting something great and wait in expectancy for Him to move. Be willing to listening, be willing to be used. That sign you’ve been asking God for could be right in front of your eyes and you could overlook it if you’re not willing to listen.
