Dirt floors swept spotless, not a speck of dust seen on anything.  No blade of grass encroaching on the land. The house glimmering spotless even amongst the dust that floats about in the air.

The gate wide open for anyone to enter. The door stands ajar as a knock is heard throughout the home, signaling the arrival of people from a far off land.

The surprised look as we introduce ourselves with a “Dumela Mai/Entate” (Hello Ma’am/Sir). The ecstatic look as we are invited in to sit down. Complete strangers in the house, yet treated as though we are family.

Welcome to this past week on the World Race. This is one example of the scenes that became, at least, somewhat common to my team.

This week we did something called “Relationship Evangelism.”

Here’s a quick guide to what RE is:

  1. Walk around and pick a random house, praying that God leads you to a house that is open to Him.
  2. Once the house is chosen, walking to the door to see if anyone is at home.

–          If yes, than explain why you (a white person from America) decided to show up at their doorstep.

–          If no, than obviously walk away and try another house.

  1. Begin asking questions about them and their culture, and answering questions about you and your culture.
  2. Let the conversation become like a natural conversation and allow it to naturally go into beliefs and whether or not they believe in God.
  3. Depending how open they are, present them with the Gospel and answer whatever questions they have to the best of your ability. (Constantly praying for wisdom and guidance)

Just make friends with the people you meet and allow them to open up naturally and not shove the Gospel down their throats, otherwise there is a good possibility they will not respond well.

This is basically what we have done in the past week, the main part. We also delivered books we printed and binded to the schools where they are needed, as well as led a children’s ministry for the kids in the city of Qwa Qwa (an Hour drive from here). The RE took place in Qwa Qwa as well.

While we were doing RE the other day, we had to split up in three groups. One group delivering books and two groups going from house to house. Jess and I were put on one team and the first house we stopped at was the home of a woman that just moved into town looking for work. She was already a Christian but had fallen into things that she felt were too much for her to handle and had almost given up. Before we left, we were able to encourage her and share how the Lord can overcome any obstacle no matter how great. How he will always be with her, she just has to trust in Him.

The Next house was totally different…

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and prayed for me! you rock! part 2 will be out soon if internet is available!
