Wow these past two months have been exiting and this month is too.  We are in Africa and as I type there is a storm raining fierce outside.  Amy and I were walking/running back to our hostel from our walk because suddenly on this clear hot day rain began to drop.  As we ran it got faster and faster and just as we got under cover hail began to fall.  Yes hail!
From the last blog until now I have been to Turkey, Israel, and Egypt.  We learned about the culture in each place and built relationships with the people.  Once in Turkey our team went for a walk in a small town.  Slowly children began to come up to us and then more and more gathered.  Business men came out of their offices to see what the noise was about.  Suddenly we were surrounded by children from all sides.  Some friendly and others throwing sunflower seeds at me yelling words.  Our translator guide told us to turn around.  As we were walking a restaurant owner ushered us into his business and quickly his friends made us a table and served us hot tea.  They were friendly and very interested in talking to us.  We visited them for a while and made appointments to meet with them the next day to share Christ’s love.

In Israel we participated in Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath).  Scott, Amy, and I went to the market, bought all the food and prepared it.  Our contact who was an Orthodox Jew living in Jerusalem conducted the Shabbat traditions and prayers while we learned some very interesting things about “God’s chosen people.”  We studied scripture from the Torah and Bible along with other commentaries from well respected Rabbis.  Scott, Amy and I went to the Old City during our stay in Jerusalem and visited Christ Church.  While there we had the great opportunity to have a free tour by a Messianic Jewish girl.  She shared with us how this church was built to teach Jewish believers about the Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus).  She even shared her personal testimony of how she came to believe and learn about Jesus from an online chat with someone from the United States.  How amazing! From all this I have gained a better understanding of the Jewish people and know better how to reach them with the truth and love that God’s Son reveals.
