The
accommodations at training camp are somewhat primitive. Be sure you are
prepared for any weather – hot afternoons, cold nights, rain, sleet and
maybe even some snow – ANYTHING!! Here are some things to bring:
- Tent
- Sleeping bag, pillow, etc.
- Clothes
for the whole time ( 1 semi casual outfit – nice jeans and a nice
shirt). Plan for mostly outdoor activities. AIM dress code does apply.
FYI, some clothes may be ruined by our pretty Red Georgia Dirt! - Bring extra “work out” type clothing
- Rain Jacket
- Sweatshirt or zip up hoodie for chilly nights around a camp fire
- Shoes…we
recommend bringing the shoes you think you want to wear on the Race. This
could possibly include: every day type flip flops, a the
more rugged sandal (Chacos, Keens, Tevas), and Athletic shoes (for more running, sports, working out or when you
need closed-toed shoes.) You do NOT need to bring heavy hiking boots. - Water bottle/Nalgene
- A mug or tumbler if you want hot drinks
- Mess
kit type stuff (plastic bowl and plate and the ever popular SPORK are good ideas.) - Towel, personal hygiene items, shower shoes
- Basic
First Aid items such as: mosquito spray, hand sanitizer, band aids,
anti-bacterial wipes, ointment, sunscreen, aloe vera, medicine for stomach issues,
headaches, allergies, bug bites. - Headlamp or flashlight….you’ll prefer a headlamp
- Bible, journal, pens…this is a must for processing!!
- Spending money – enough for one meal, fun times with your team, or items to purchase at camp
- Laptop -this isn’t a must, but it wouldn’t be an awful thing to have either for things like blogging and note taking and saving pictures.
We do ask that
you try to bring a backpack to Training Camp. If you want to wait until
after Training Camp to purchase a backpack, please borrow a backpack
from someone else to use during camp.
