This information may not be new to you. It’s on your profile under the “Fund-Raising” tab in the Fund-Raising section on the left. The information is labeled “Getting the Most out of your Donations”. Be that as it may, I’ve gotten several questions about the following information, so I thought I’d outline it here.
4 Ways to Give
1. Credit and Debit Card
If a donor clicks the “Support Me” (or whatever text you changed it to) link on the left side of your blog, they will be taken to a form for giving that allows them to donate using a credit or debit card. Obviously, this is mighty convenient. They can even set up an automatic monthly payment. The drawback is that it requires a third-party service that charges a fee. 5% of what your donor gives using a credit or debit card online is taken out before you see the donation.
Pros: Quick. Easy to find and navigate. Easy to set up monthly pledge.
Cons: 5% fee paid to the processing company.
2. Bank Draft
Donors can also set up a bank draft through the “Support Me” link on your blog. It’s similar to the credit and debit card donations, but the funds come directly out of their bank account rather than through their card. This method is also easy and convenient. It also requires a fee to be paid to a third-party processing company. With a bank draft, the processing fee is only 3%.
Pros: Quick. Easy to find and navigate. Easy to set up monthly pledge.
Cons: 3% fee paid to the processing company.
3. Check by Mail
It’s also possible for donors to mail checks to Adventures in Missions. All the information needed is on your Support Card. You should include a Support Card, and probably a stamped envelope, with every support letter you send. (You can find your customized support card on your profile. Click the “My Mobilization Info” tab. In the “Documents” section under the “Support Letter” heading, you’ll see a green “Support Card” link. Click that to print your Support Card.) Be aware these checks are not mailed to the AIM office, but to the address on the Support Card — a PO box in Atlanta. This method may be a bit more tedious and take longer to process, but there is absolutely no processing fee. You get 100% of the donor’s gift.
Pros: No processing fee. Sent directly to AIM’s bank to be deposited.
Cons: May take up to 2 weeks from the date mailed for the donation to appear in your Fund-Raising account.
4. DynaPay System
For donors who know they would like to make a monthly commitment, the DynaPay system may be the all-around best option. By entering a few bits of information online, your donor can give, by electronic check, once or twice a month. The best part: NO PROCESSING FEES. They MUST enter the end date of the gift in the online form or the donation will continue until our Donor Relations department receives written confirmation that they would like to discontinue the donation. You can direct donors to www.adventures.org/dynapay to give through the DynaPay system.
Pros: No processing fee. Automated giving.
Cons: The donor must specify the end date or communicate in writing with Donor Relations.
