Hey Friends,

As we all prepare to launch (or for some of you maybe as you launch), I thought this song would be a good thing to reflect on. I first heard it around a fire in Guatemala in November. A friend of mine decided we should have a bonfire the last night I was there and he brought his guitar. A group of about fifteen of us went to the fire pit and sang songs of praise in English and Spanish for a couple hours. This song really stuck with me and has become one of my favorites.
I think it’s incredibly appropriate for what we are about to embark on, and it has become my World Race song. It is both a promise from God and a challenge to us. God promises that he is our Savior and Redeemer and that it is in him that we find our security and strength. He also challenges us to get up, go to the nations, and shine his light to them. It’s pretty much the World Race in a nutshell. Here are the words and my rough translation, along with the link to the song on YouTube. Enjoy and I can’t wait to see y’all soon!
Abre tus puertas (Open your doors)
Porque tu amanecer llego (because your dawn has arrived)
Tu sol hoy brilla (Your sun shines today)
Tu luz nunca se apagara (Your light will never go out)
Soy tu salvador, soy tu redentor (I am your savior, I am your redeemer)
Quien te da seguridad (who gives you security)
Eres fuerte en mi.. (You are strong in me)

Un sonido.. nunca oido.. (A sound…never before heard)
Un estruendo celestial…! (A celestial roar)

Levantate y Resplandece hoy (Stand up and shine today)
Con mi luz, mi poder te cubrira (with my light, my power will cover you)
Resplandece, en las naciones (Shine, in the nations)
Sin temor brillaras, Levantate..! (Without fear you will shine, Stand up!)
