I had the opportunity to preach one night at our first ministry we were at here in Ghana. I was hoping to go on the race without having to preach, but my turn finally arrived. At first I had no clue what I would talk about and I should tell you all that speaking in public is something that I am not fond of J But God gave me what I should say and it happened to be something that He is in the middle of taking me through- my identity, who I am in Christ. God has been getting me out of my comfort zone a lot while on the race and that night when I preached was no different. I am finding out that you can truly do anything for God and He is waiting to use us- you just have to be willing and most likely you will be taken out of your comfort zone. But now I am finding it easier to speak in front of large crowds and know that whatever I say God will use for His glory and His kingdom.
So back to my sermon . . .
God has been showing me how important my identity in Him is and how it is the center of everything! So I preached on who God says we are and it felt like I was preaching to myself the whole time J. Our identities in Christ is so important and I cannot stress it enough! God has been showing me how with all of the issues and problems I am having just about all relate back to my identity. We need to know who we are in Christ and truly believe what He says about us! That is where I am at right now- I can tell you everything that God says I am , but still do not truly believe it in my heart and that is where God is working in my right now. He keeps on showing me and telling me who I am in Him. I have listened to the lies of this world for so long regarding who I was that for the longest time I truly believed them. Those lies were so loud that I could not hear God whispering to me who He said I was. Lucky we serve a God who pursues us and does not relent until He has all of us- all of our lives, our hearts, even our identities in Him!
Actually, who are you not to be?
~ Marianne Williamson
We live our lives in reference to how we see ourselves. If you believe you are a child of God, you will live as a child of God!
