Akwaaba- which means welcome- to Ghana! We made it safely to Ghana on Monday afternoon and had the warmest welcome at the airport that I have ever had! All of the different pastors and contact we will be working with this month greeted us at the airport and never have I felt so welcome and so loved upon first arriving in a country so far on the race. The people here are so friendly and welcoming and the kids- adorable, that about sums it up!

They had a welcoming service for us a day after we got here and it touched my heart! They made a banner that said welcome World Race Squad and it even had our group picture from training camp on it. Some of the people’s contacts even knew them by name from looking at the picture of the team they were going to have! During the service, they welcomed us, had some kids dance for us, introduced all the pastors, had a message to encourage us, and pray for us before sending us off to our different ministry sites.

During this service there were so many kids there and luckily I was sitting towards the back J near them! I was able to talk with some of the kids and just love on them. I even was able to have one of the cutest little boys sit on my lap for part of the service! The one thing that touches my heart so much here are the kids. These kids are beautiful and so innocent. They want to be near you and to get to know you. I had one girl ask me if I would be her friend and I am not even sure if she knew my name J These kids get into your heart without you even realizing it! Please be praying for these kids in Ghana and in Africa- we got asked a couple of times if we brought them anything and if we had any food because they were hungry and thirsty. That is one hard thing for me- we cannot really help with the physical aspect of their needs, but can only pray for them and give them lots and lots of love and attention. Please be praying for their safety, protection, and health. Pray that these kids will keep on trusting in God to provide for their needs. These kids have already stolen my heart and I am so blessed to be able to be Jesus’ heart for them this month!
