Who could forget the old Sunday school story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego? I certainly have never. Though the events as recorded in the Bible have never ceased to lose their luster, my eyes have been opened to see these men in a new light.
Last night, I was led to read from the book of Daniel. I don’t really remember the last time I found myself here, but because the word of God is alive and active, it always has a way of penetrating the heart. What touched me was the great faith of these three men. They believed that God’s promises were true, even to the point of walking through fire to reveal the truth of his word!
The miracle of God saving Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego from the blazing furnace used to amaze me. Today, I am amazed that these men had the great faith to say, “No matter what, King Nebuchadnezzar, we will not bow before your idol. We declare to you that our God has the power to save us, even when walking in the midst of flames!” They declared the promises of God, and because the Lord is always faithful, he stood by his word. It says in Daniel that what looked to be the Son of God even walked with them through the fire! How incredible.
There are so many ways I can take this and apply it to my own life. The Lord confirmed to me for the ump-teenth time this morning that he has indeed called me to go on this World Race, and HE WILL provide all that I need to make that happen.
I am just over $5,000 away from reaching my financial goal, and I have just over two weeks before jumping on a plane to the Philippines.
I am asking all of you that read this to please seek the Lord about whether or not he is calling you to give to this ministry! I believe whole-heartedly that I have been called for such a time as this, and when the Lord calls HE WILL provide a way! This mission is not about me; it’s about the Lord and his purposes, and I believe that his will WILL be accomplished. However, I can’t do this alone. I need your help as my brothers and sisters in Christ!
If you are feeling a tug on your heart to give and yet are not sure of how to make it happen financially, consider making a commitment to give as little as $5 a month! God has the ability to take our offerings and make them into a bountiful harvest! Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider what your role in this ministry may be!
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
Acts 20:24
