I am learning to see.
You see, I’ve always thought that because I have two eyes that perceive color and distance (with contacts to perfect the minor flaws), the world was as I saw it. I am learning differently.
*I am learning that outward appearances are deceptive. What looks outwardly appealing is not always so once digested. How many times have you made the statement, “I guess my eyes are bigger than my stomach!”? The same concept applies to all areas of our lives. Sometimes it’s about moderation, and other times self-control. Sometimes it’s about a change of mindset. Sometimes it’s letting go.
*I am learning that people (as well) are not always as they appear. We are good at deceiving others and putting up masks to hide our insides. We fear that if others see our true colors, we will no longer “fit the mold.” BUT…
*I am learning that every person has a story, and if you look deep enough under the surface, you will find it. You then realize that this person, whom you may or may not have perceived as odd, is not much different from yourself.
*I am learning to put on my spiritual eyes in order that I may see what exists beyond the physical world surrounding me.
*I am learning that when I make a trip to the grocery store, the mall, the bank, the local Dairy Queen, the nail salon, or the neighbor lady’s house, I MUST put on my spiritual eyes in order to see the broken world that I have been called to bring life to.
*I am learning that when we begin to live out our God-given identities as children of the King, there is NOTHING that can stop us. HE will show us the world as HE sees it.
*I am learning it is time to WAKE UP, O Generation! Shine your light on the darkness so that we may see the TRUTH!
“Don’t waste your time
on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose
these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste
their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will
see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in
the light of Christ.
Wake up from your sleep,
Climb out of your coffins;
Christ will show you the light!
So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!”
