week 1

   week2week3

Well friends, this month of children ministry is quickly coming to an end. Month 1 has been fairly easy when in comes to all of the accommodations that the camp has to offer us. Flushing toilets, showers, occasional hot water, drinkable water from all water faucets, and bunk beds with pillows and sheets! Not to mention nearby internet and a small store that sells ICE CREAM!

A little cold reminder of home 🙂

As you can see we really aren't roughing it. In a way I was a little disappointed since I had mentally prepared myself for baby wipe showers, sleeping on the floor and whatever else could be thrown my way.  Considering how our trip started with 53 total hours of travel time and about half that time being in a bus I was sure that out of the ordinary accommodations, was how God was going to teach me on the trip. Only goes to show that God has his own plans and when it comes to life we can't go in with our own expectations.

So first thing God has taught me is to take life on with a positive attitude. Mostly because he has plans that are far better than our own. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 God's teaching this month has come in learning patience, love, compassion and grace. Not only learned from the kids I got to be around but also from having to live in close quarters with 40 girls (you try living like that and coming out without learning patience). One thing that I am continuously learning and working on is giving up all of my worries to God. As of now my husband Victor is in the ARMY in Afghanistan working in some very dangerous areas and having to work in dangerous situations. You can only imagine how worrisome that could be for all who love those men serving our country. I pray for his safety and everyday I have to give my worries up to God. With all of this there is another lesson. Faith and trust in Him and His promises. These are only a few things that this first month have challenged me with I look forward to what else he has in store.

Where are we going next… As of this moment it is still a mystery. Once again, we had our route all planned out and well God thinks it will be better for us to go elsewhere. We will know where we are headed either tonight or tomorrow, then we will leave soon after! I will update you as soon as I can. Thank you for all your love support and prayers!

Over and out from the pizza shop couch,

Janice
