A few days ago we went on a treasure hunt. We split up into groups and went on to searched the city of Kathmandu. We spent some time in prayer, asking God to lead us to whoever He wanted us to talk to. As we were praying, a plaid shirt kept coming to mind. I did have a plaid shirt on so I thought I could have been a bit bias, but I went with it. My other squad mates got a smiley face, direction to go right, pink roses, and the color red.

As we were walking, we asked a few people if we can pray for them and unfortunately they said no. We were a bit discouraged because prayer had been rejected a few times but we pushed through and kept trying anyway.

We finally decided that we would turn right and try to find someone or a place that displayed the things that we felt God put in our minds, the plaid shirt, the color red, the smiley face, and pink flowers.

We randomly landed at a restaurant who to our surprise, had a smiley face on its wall. We were looking in and thought we were still at the wrong place since everything else we felt God placed in our hearts was missing. When suddenly a waiter gives someone a dish that happened to have pink flowers on it! We all just stared at each other. We couldn’t believe it. But, of course, as doubtful as we humans can be, we weren’t completely convinced. We were still missing the plaid shirt and the color red so we thought this place couldn’t be it! Suddenly a man with a plaid shirt and red shoes walks into the restaurant and walks right out and leaves. NOW we were sold! We felt the Lord allowed that man to go in just so we can see him and get in there!

We finally go in and sit at a table. There were three men sitting to our left who happened to have plaid shirts on! We awkwardly sat there trying to think of a way to start talking to them. We finally built up enough courage and asked them if they knew if we were suppose to sit and wait for the waiter or go up front and order there. That was our BEST conversation starter! Haha…

Thankfully, they kindly answered, and that gave us the extra push to start talking to them about the good stuff! We asked them for their names, where they work, about their families, and things of that sort. Then we asked if we can pray for them. They all gladly said yes. We were so excited since we were rejected a few times prior. We asked what they needed prayer for and two of them said for everything, while one said for peace.

It struck me when the one guy asked for us to pray for peace. The times I’ve asked random people what they want me to pray about they have said for wealth, health, or for their families, so when this man said peace I felt really touched. We prayed for them and asked what their religion was. They all said Hindu except for the man who wanted us to pray for peace. I pray and hope that we planted a seed today and the Lord reveals Himself to this man and gives him the peace that surpasses all understanding. The peace only Jesus can give.

My faith increased that day. I was so amazed at what God can do when we take the time to seek Him and and listen. He is in control of LITERALLY EVERYTHING! I doubted today would be fruitful but the Lord proved otherwise. I am so thankful that I was able to experience God’s grace today and His love for others. I encourage you all to go on a treasure hunt. There are so many treasures out there that need to be prayed for, experience God’s love, and hear the good news of Jesus Christ!
