World Race launch. Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A time of closure to what we’re leaving behind. A time of laying our hearts open before the Father and saying, “Here’s my life, do whatever you need to do with it. Mold it, shape it so I reflect more of you and less of me.”
Launch week was about connecting with Abba Father through incredible times of worship. I am so blessed to be part of a squad with such talented worship leaders who are passionate about connecting with the Father in worship.
Launch week was about preparing our own hearts for the journey that lies ahead of us.
Launch week was about beginning to see what community looks like on the World Race-living together as a team, giving each other feedback, and starting to learn to be vulnerable with each other.
And so it began! On Friday the 13th, our squad flew from Miami to San Salvador and from there, our teams split up to go to our different ministry locations. We are currently working in the little town of Apastepeque. The first several days I dealt with thinking ahead to next week, next month, and next year. But God is teaching me so much about living in the present and making the absolute most out of every minute of every day.
As this crazy journey begins, as this adventure unfolds, I’m praying that our ears will be opened, and hearts will be fully turned toward Him.
The first several days here have been filled with getting oriented with what we’ll be doing in ministry here this month. But then again, plans tend to change every ten minutes so I’ve already come to expect the unexpected!
Sunday was one of those days. I was asked if I could preach and I said, “Sure!” But when we arrived at the church they decided that I didn’t need to after all. “Ok!” A highlight at this small, remote church, where we literally doubled their size, was worshipping with them in English and in Spanish. Allan-our squad leader lead worship (in Spanish) and so now it’s a goal of mine to lead worship in Spanish since we’ll be spending three more months in Spanish speaking countries.
Later in the day we attended another church service in San Vicente-the closest major town from where we’re staying. The spirit of God was so strong in the room that night. The pastor invited anyone with a sickness to come to the front and be prayed for. There were old men and women, young youth, middle aged, bawling their eyes out as they cried out to God. We as teams surrounded them and asked God for healings and miracles.
Today we went out to a village to pray and interact with the people. Before we went, we asked God to give us divine opportunities, and divine opportunities we had. As Chris(The other guy on my team) and I walked down a street together praying over the village, we were invited into a pour house where we found an elderly woman in extreme pain and swelling from a fractured hip.
We asked God for healing in her body and that salvation would come to her house. We didn’t see complete healing but when we left, she said she was feeling a lot better.
This pretty much brings you up to date on my first week on the World Race.
Some of these posts are going to be more about what’s going on in what we’re involved in, and some are going to be about what’s going on in my heart
.
I’ll leave ya’ll with the verse our team is memorizing for the week,
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his live for me."
