Have you ever immediately fallen in love with a place and a people that your heart truly goes out to them? Where your heart falls so in love that you never want to leave? Right after getting to Candelaria Nicaragua my heart broke and fell in love with this place and these people.
I have really been trying to invest in these people. Every minute of my day I try and spend with them. It is absolutely amazing here. My heart has found a new home. I never want to leave to be honest. I can almost guarantee I will be moving back here when the race is over.
I have not written a blog since I left Panajachel and I apologize about that. Every minute of my day is consumed by my investment into this place. And to be honest I haven’t quite known what to write about so I will fill you all in on what I have been doing.
Day to day my day looks like this… wake up around 8 for breakfast. Group devotions and worship at 9, which has been so good to really dive into the word in the morning and be in worship. At 11 the kids are allowed on the property. This place has a baseball field and a basketball court. Basically hundreds of kids come here everyday to play. My heart goes out to them more and more every day. These people have absolutely nothing! James 2:5 “Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised to those who love him?” I am living in one of the poorest parts of Nicaragua. Their homes are honestly tarps in the 3rd part of Candelaria. Most of them do not have dads and cannot even afford to pay the uniform price to go to school. But at the same time they have so much joy, so much love. They desire so much to get love as well. They always want to be around us. I look forward to getting up every morning and living life here. Life is simple, life is love. The contacts who run this place are amazing. The potential and ideas they have for it align so much with want I want to do. They run small businesses (microfinance) through here such as a medical clinic, garden, 20 goats and a cow for milk, rice harvest, bracelet and hammock making, they are going to be starting a coffee shop/ internet cafe as soon as they can find someone to start it. As far as staff here, they are in such need for more people to move down here and really invest into these people.
When I say I never want to leave… I mean there is such a strong tug on my heart here. Anytime I think about moving on to the next country I feel like crying, and that hardly ever happens.
So I appologize for not being in contact I am just in personal process and loving on these people as much as possible. Words cannot describe my thoughts about being here. Eventually I will be able to process it and explain better in a blog
I love you all so much and cannot wait to talk to you again face to face. I miss you all a bunch.
