As I prepare to launch in September, I wanted to start researching each of the countries I'll be serving in. Most importantly, I wanted to look into the areas of ministry I might experience.
For the next 10 days, I'll be researching each of the countries and also letting each of you know a little bit about what I'll be experiencing!

Swaziland

When I’ll be in Swaziland: November
Where in Swaziland: I’ll find out this month!
Temperature: 65 Degrees Fahrenheit (Exactly like Nebraska!!)
Something Interesting: The Reed Dance is a traditional dance where members of the tribe Umhlanga bring reeds to present to their Queen Mother. The dance usually lasts a week.
Areas of Ministry I might be working(I’ll find out for sure this month!) HIV/AIDS Virus and Orphans due to AIDS/HIV

  • Swaziland has the highest HIV infection rate in the world (26% of all adults)
  • Swaziland has the lowest life expectancy in the world at 32 years
  • 64% of all deaths in Swaziland are caused by HIV/ADIS
  • 38% of tested pregnant women were infected with HIV
  • Tuberculosis is also a problem in Swaziland – with an 18% mortality rate
