This month has been great ministry. Sometimes there seem to be lulls but that is probably due to being here during Holiday. But there are always people to talk to, a beach to go and kids to play with. So here is a basic outline of what a day looks like for me here during our ministry week (Mon-Fri). Weekends are free days for us and we always have adventures up our sleeves.

7:30 am – Wake up. Eat breakfast. Have a quiet time. Get ready for the day.
8:45am – Leave our apartment and walk over to our contacts hostel.
9:00 am – Devotion/Worship time.
10:00am – This time differs every morning. For two hours we have time to do what the Lord leads. This could look like playing soccer on the beach, walking around the town looking for people to chat with, spending time with teammates one on one or having time to process and to post blogs.

12:00pm – Lunch time! This is our mid day rest. It can sometimes consist of a short power nap.
2:00 pm – Walk over to the township Capricorn.
2:30 pm – Go into the township to find kids to invite to our soccer camp.
3:00 pm – Soccer camp begins. We have the kids get in a big circle. We pray. Stretch. Do passing drills. A dribbling and shooting drill and then we pass out the jerseys and play a game. I usually join the team with the least amount of older kids, or the team that is losing after awhile. We then bring them all in and share with them a snack, a story from the Bible and then pray with them again.

5:00 pm—Arrive home and shower after a day of sweating and playing in the sand.
6:00 pm – Dinner!
7:00 pm – Family time. Feedback. Debrief. Games. Worship. Markets. General hang out time for us.
9:00 pm – This is usually bed time more or less. Get ready for bed. Read for awhile. Enjoy some relaxing alone time.

Sometimes we change up ministry some. Instead of soccer we just go to play with the kids. One day we even took 13 kids from the township to the beach and had lunch there.

Sunday mornings we get a van/truck which takes us to Hillsong church and we are able to bring some of the kids from the township with us. This is their chance to get out of their community for awhile and to experience God in a whole new way.

Sometimes it feels as if we are not doing too much. Or maybe not even as much as we would like to. But every minute we are being obedient and listening to the voice of the Lord, we are making a difference to those in Cape Town, South Africa. We are being His hands and feet to show the love and hope of God to all we encounter.
