Joining the World Race has brought me into a new culture, which we tend to call World Race Culture. There are different aspects to this culture I had never experienced before, but all are uplifting and encouraging for the Body of Christ.

My church at home is very traditional and so being exposed to more charismatic parts of Christianity is not common for me. Starting at Training Camp and only continuing on since Launch and now around the world, I have been exposed to and become more comfortable with different parts of Christianity.

One of these is Prophecy. In 1 Corinthians 14 Paul talks about Prophecy and Tongues and highly encourages the gift of Prophecy. In verse 3 Paul says, “But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.” In verse 4b Paul says, “but he who prophesies edifies the church.” Prophecy seems to be a pretty important thing. So why have I not encountered it much before.

During my time Ecuador, a team from V Squad prophesied over each member of our team. And then again in Albania the same team prophesied again. For people who I have not even met, their prophesies were encouraging and uplifting and helped to guide me. It was crazy how true some things were about my life for people that I have never met or talked to before. So I knew it was from God.

During our time in Month 4 debrief in Bucharest, Romania there was a session on Prophecy. Our team sat in a circle, and put each of our names on a piece of paper in a hat. We all picked a name out and without looking at it prayed and listened for God’s voice in order to see what God was telling us for that person. It was a little tough for me at first, but then soon it became clear and I knew what to write.

We went around sharing our prophecy and the name. When it came to me I shared what I had wrote and then revealed the name, and sure enough I had picked myself. And looking back at my prophecy it all makes sense for me and I know that will help encourage me this next month. Something all along told my I had myself. It was me who needed to hear from the Lord and speak life into myself.

Here is what I wrote:
I see strength, but maybe unseen or unnoticed or unrecognized. God wants to do so much in your life but you have to allow Him the opportunity. Be ready for melting, molding and shaping. Continue to draw close to Him and He will guide you. He wants you to feel secure in your place in Him.
