Okay honestly, it hasn’t really hit me yet. I mean I know I’m in Ecuador, but it feels almost natural to me. It feels a lot like Peru to me, so it makes me super excited for next month.
Yesterday was travels. I flew from Denver to Ft Lauderdale. Then met a teammate and we took a shuttle to the train station, then a train to Miami and then another shuttle to the Miami airport. We met up with the rest of the team leaders and finance people. Checked in out bags and then waited for our plane to Ecuador.
We arrived at about 10:45pm. Then comes customs. By Chaco totally got stuck in the conveyor belt and it was holding up traffic. How embarrassing. We then meet up with our squad leaders who take us to a bus which takes us to a hostel. By this time it is like 12:30am. My bed was certainly calling my name.
This morning got to sleep until 9am (not sure how often that is going to happen). Then relaxed and then explored Quito. In the afternoon, had more finance training. I think I am good to go now. My fun part of the day….trying to find our way to the hostel in a pretty bad rain storm. We were soaked by the time we got back. Then it was dinner, which we had Mexican (go figure).
Tonight the rest of our squad arrives. So tomorrow we will be whole again. I can’t wait to see team FIREPROOF!
And I pretty much gave everyone a rundown of what it’s like. Soon, once we go to Huaticocha (on Sunday), internet will be limited.
But I am loving Ecuador so far and can’t wait to finally get to doing ministry.
