Blanket oh blanket I stole you from a flight,
But you have kept me warm in the middle of the night.
I’ve used you to carry a baby on my back,
You kept my clean as a seat in a shack.
Used as a prop in many a skits,
I’ll be honest the worst one was the magic trick.
I wore you a lot, like a chitenge and cape,
And even a table did you drape.
You provided shade for al when she was sick,
You could even be a flag if i put you on a stick.
You have served me useful as a mosquito net,
I’m only writing this because I lost a bet
At the village I wasn’t going to shower,
But you came in clutch when you became my towel.
For the sunrise you came with me up a hill,
But I had to clean you for hours to remove the quills.
I gave you away but you found your way home,
Soon it’s back to the USA we roam.
You are dirty and torn but not will I mend,
Because the way that you are, you’ve become my friend.
You have come in handy in more ways than one,
And I know for a fact we’re not done with the fun.
Even though it crossed my mind that we should part,
I can’t let you go, you are a part of my heart.
