After one 13-hour bus ride (including a 4 hour border crossing), a night in a hostel in Tegucigalpa and a 3-hour van ride later, my team and I safely arrived at our ministry site for month 3, in Juticalpa, Honduras. I will be posting more about this at a later time.
Since I was having a lot of technical issues getting photos uploaded last month, I thought it would be nice to post a photo blog recapping some of my time in Nicaragua. I will start by sharing some photos of El Puente, the ministry site where we stayed at:

The building to the far left in the pic is our dorm. The building to the right (pictured up close below), which is connected to the dorm with a walkway, is the bathrooms.

You can always tell Racers are nearby when you spot the rows of Enos.
This is the view of the main building at El Puente (where the kitchen and Bible study area are) walking from the dorm.

This is literally the view walking into the kitchen (with me standing in the kitchen). Definitely has that Halloween cabin in the woods feel to it.

The kitchen, where you often have to fight your way through hordes of people just to grab a utensil. Below is where we sit around to eat and chat.

This is the prayer house they have at the back of the property at El Puente

Meet the guineas, who walk all over the property like they own the place. You can find them just about anywhere making their odd noises and staring creepily at you. Seriously, there have been quite a few times that I came out of the shower or looked up while brushing my teeth and there they sit on the top of the ledge just looking down at you. It’s pretty funny.
Now, onto the beautiful city of Granada….the vast majority of these photos were taken by members of my squad. I’ve “stolen” so many of them from Facebook and such that I honestly don’t remember which picture is whose, so I can’t give appropriate credit to each individual.

La Floresta, the hostel we stayed at for a few days in Granada during our debrief at the end of month one

We climbed the bellower of this church for some amazing views of the city

One of the most breathtaking churches I’ve ever seen

The rows and rows of horses we pass by each day when going through the park in Granada.

Now, onto some pics of the Island…
The lake where we “bathed” while on the island. Note the awesome volcano in the background.

When our teams started, this was just a bunch of dirt. We helped the men dig trenches, level off the dirt and form the foundations and walls of the first and only Christian church on the island.

That moment when you are on your lunch break and just need to find somewhere to lay your head under shade….so you lay down some cement bags on the ground and make it happen.

Meet Danny, the Pastor’s son who lives on the island and loved interacting with the gringos.

Brooke (one of the girls on my team) eating our typical meal on the island, a whole fish and gallo pinto (rice and beans).
Lastly, here are a few pics of my team/squad throughout the month…
This is our whole squad together with some of our ministry hosts for the month (sorry for the glare)

Cleaning up the property at Pantanal, one of our work sites where the missionaries are growing an amazing ministry (left to right: Zack Toth, Derek Chaney, me and Abi Thompson). Below is one view of this work site.

Stephanie and I with Wilbur. He is an amazing guy who is homeless and has cerebral palsy. His joy, despite his circumstances, humbled me deeply and I will never forget him and his story.
