History: Gained independence from Belgium in 1962. Suffered from civil war starting in 1990, culminated in 1994 genocide.
Economy: Poor rural country with 90% of the popualtion engaged in agriculture. Tourism, minerals, coffe and tea are the main exports.
Problems: Overgrazing, poaching, soil erosion, and fighting among ethnic groups.

Our ministry host for the month is Reverand John, pastor of Victory Mission. My team and I are living in the town of Kabuga, just outside of the capital of Kigali. We will be teaching English to children at the church in the mornings and going door-to-door doing evangelism and praying for the people in the village during the afternoon.
