Words. The one thing that every single person on the planet uses, in one form or another, every single day. We use them in written, spoken and signed form. We can use them on ourselves (just be careful who's around otherwise people may think that you're weird) or with others. In elementary school we learn that there are different types: nouns, verbs, conjunctions, prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs. We learn that each of these has a specific purpose. We use them in a variety of places and for a variety of reasons: to exchange information, promote ideas, and convey feelings. The use of words is such a common practice that it often goes unnoticed, possibly even taken for granted. But what happens when our words get out of control. What happens when we fling them about carelessly without concern for the impact that they may be having on the people whom they are directed at. The results can be devestating. However, if they are used correctly and come from a heart of love they can bring life. That is, afterall, what we are called to do isn't it? That is where the next seven sentences come in to play. These statements reflect how I entend to live my life from this point forward with no excuses and no regrets.
  • I am created in the image of the Almighty God and reflect his love everywhere I go. (Genesis 1: 26-27, Psalm 139:13-16, Romans 15:13, Ephesians 5:25-29)
  • I am redeemed and free to live the life that He has planned out for me. (Deuteronomy 8:18, Psalm 57:2, John 14:12-14, Galatians 1:15-16, Ephesians 1:4 & 7, Philippians 4:13)
  • I am being renewed every day and no longer live in bondage to the things of the world. (Psalm 103:3-5, Romans 6:11, 8:1-2, 1 Corinthians 2:16, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Colossians 1:13, 1 Peter 2:24)
  • I am a hearer, sharer and doer of His word because I know that it impacts every person that hears it. (Mark 16:17-18, Colossians 1:24-29, James 1:22)
  • I am under the authority of Christ and protected from the attacks of the god of this world. (Psalm 3:3, Psalm 91, Luke 10:19, Romans 8:37, Philippians 4:7, 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3)
  • I am in need of nothing because everything is richly provided for by my Heavenly Father. (Mark 11:24, Luke 6:38, Ephesians 3:20, Philippians 4:19, Colossians 1:10, James 1:5, 2 Peter 1:3-4)
  • I am an heir to the incredible riches, gifts, and promises that God is waiting to shower on my life. (2 Chronicles 1:11-12, Ecclesiastes 2:26, Ephesians 1:3 & 8)
In short, I am no longer consumed by the things of this world. I am not who the world and the Enemy say I am, I am who Jesus says I am. I look forward to seeing the glory of the heaven manifested on earth because one day it will be. The great thing about these declarations is that if you have given your life to Christ these things apply to you too. If you haven't this lifestyle is readily available because he is readily available. These declarations can be yours too if you just reach out ot the one who makes all of them possible.
