Hey everybody! I just wanted to take a moment and update you on my fundraising status. I have been going at it for about about 2 months now and currently have $300 in my account. I have collected an additional $148 in the last week for a total of $448. I have spent the last couple of months talking with individuals and writing letters to churches (mainly the ones in my association but also others throughout the state that I have had a connection with in the past) in order to make people aware of my needs and have been able to come away with several additional pledges of support. I also hope to be able to visit and talk with some of these churches and better share what God has laid on my heart. In addition to these efforts, I also have a few other activities scheduled for the coming months:
-
I have talked with my friends at Salsarita's and they have agreed to help by sharing 15% of their profits over the course of a given business day. With Christmas and many events coming up over the next month or so I am looking at the end of January or the beginning of February for this event and I hope that I will be able to get all of the Salsarita's locations in Knoxville to participate.
-
I plan to talk with more local businesses in the coming days, both small businesses and large corporations alike, and discuss their policies for charitable giving. Any help that anybody can give, especially regarding the large corporations, would be greatly appreciated.
-
I am working on creating an online store where you will be able purchase various items related to my participation in the World Race. Here I have the opportunity to earn a commission on the sales from my store and as more people shop I will be able to earn a bonus!
For those who want to give but aren't sure how to (by the way, Adventures In Missions is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so your gift is tax deductable!), there are several ways:
-
If you know that you want to give and how much you can send me a check made out to Adventures in Missions and I can forward it on to the main office.
-
If you know that you want to give but haven't decided how much then I can give you support card for you to send with a check to the main office at your convenience. (Note: It is strongly recemmended that you do not send cash in the mail.)
-
In the grey bar on the left side of this blog there is a link that says 'Support Me!' that will take you to an online giving form.
Finally, there are a few deadlines that I would like for you to keep in mind going forward. Please remember that these amounts have to be in my account by the day listed, not just pledged.
-
$3,500 – Due 5/5/2012 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
-
$6,500 – Due 6/17/2012 (2 weeks prior to leaving for the field)
-
$11,000 – Due 10/1/2012 (End of 3 months on the field)
-
$15,500 (full amount) – Due 1/1/2013 (End of 6 months on the field)
I did the math and I can easily meet these deadlines by collecting an average of $1240 each month from now through next December so I ask that as you pray to consider giving but even if you don't feel led to give please know that I and my team desperately need your prayers as we go. Thank you to those who are praying, to those who have already given and to those who will give.
