It’s everyone’s worst nightmare.
A sick child, a hospitalized parent or a dying family member.
I don’t know about you but I always have a difficult time expressing myself when people are going through tough times.
Today, I met a woman whose two sons died 3 years ago, her husband died 2 years ago, and yesterday she found out that her only living son has cancer and will die within 6 months.
In our hour-long conversation, she only talks about her living son and how she doesn’t want to lose him. She has no other family.
I forgot one critical detail. The woman, herself, is dieing from kidney failure and isn’t expected to live much longer.
Yet, she is only worried about her son.
Perhaps, it’s just me (and I doubt it is) but I can be “all about me.”
If there is one thing I’ve learned from my time on the race, it’s this:
As much as its about you, its not about you at all!
As much as this life is about you, its not about you.
When do we go beyond ourselves? When do we make that turn?
One thing I notice, regardless of what country I’m in, is that people are starving, both, literally and spiritually. People are in need. People need to be heard.
Lately, I’ve just felt a burden for us and I want to give the opportunity to share our fears and frustrations while also praying for each other.
I, truly, believe prayer changes things so this is what I want:
1. Share.
I know we have sick children, hospitalized parents, and sick family members out there. I, also, know that people are going through tough times right now. If you are having a hard time right now for whatever reason, please leave a comment. If you don’t tell anyone, no one can pray for you.
2. Pray.
I have very few answers for the curve balls that life throws at us but I also know that God works all things for His good and that He answers prayers.
Situations may not be ideal but we’ve laughed together, shared stories and encouraged each other before now.
Today, let’s go to war for each other in prayer.
Remember, this isn’t about me. This is about us.
This is a community so please pray for someone.
As always, dive in head first my friends.
If God could do anything for you and your family, what would you ask for? How can I (and my world race squad) be praying for you and your family?
