A happy cry averages 2 minutes; a sad cry averages seven minutes.– Crying in a newborn begins shortly after being born and indicates the baby's lungs are functional.
– Between the ages of 15-30 women cry five times more frequently than men.
– At the age you are now, you cried twice in less than 24 hrs when Jamal departed the USA.
Ok, perhaps the last one was a stretch but it's ok if you did. Because tears are normal (that's what people keep telling me at least).
Let me be honest.
Tears freak me out. They make me feel so uncomfortable.
So you can imagine how uncomfortable I have felt now that I've been crying everyday for the last month.
Sometimes, I feel like I cry multiple times a day.
Tears of being overwhelmed!
Tears of joy!
Tears of guilt!
Tears because I see how graceful He is.
Tears because…well, I can't stop crying!
Literally, CANNOT stop!
Yesterday, my team went to a local hospital here in Pretoria, South Africa to pray with sick children and I couldn't stop crying. Children with IV's in their arms. Children with tubes in their noses. Children that were surprised anyone came to see them. Children that were not experiencing childhood and only knew the confines of a hospital room.
It was overwhelming so I cried.
Crying is a mystery for me. I don't understand it so I conducted a highly scientific study (aka – I Googled it) to confirm I was "normal" and was NOT crying more than the average person (especially the average man).
It turns out, I have been crying more than the average person (and MUCH MORE than the average man).
I conducted a little more research and found that the Bible provides 697 references for verses associated with crying (weep, cry, tears).
Abraham wept over the death of Sarah.
Esau wept over his father Isaac, asking for a blessing.
King David writes prolifically in the Psalms of his tears before the Lord.
Jeremiah wept for the pride of Judah. Israel cried to God in affliction.
Even Jesus shed a few tears.
Wait!. Even Jesus shed a few tears? Who wouldn't want to be in that company?
Tell me, when was the last time you cried? And why?
Do you think you cry more or less as you get older?
(I want to hear from you…ESPECIALLY FROM THE MEN! I know you're not "supposed" to cry but I could really use your help on this one.)
Tell me that you don't smile (and possibly cry) when you see the pics below!
