Well, I’ve been here in Honduras for a week and a half now. I’m staying at a place called Zion’s Gate, which was actually at one time one of the most popular night clubs in Tegucigalpa. It is now being turned into a place of refuge for street kids from Los Pinos. There are currently about  seven kids living here with us right now, which is pretty awesome.

My team and I though have been with working with a local church called Strong Tower with pastor Asdrubal Salinas and his kids. Our first two days of ministry with them was basically sitting in a van though. We were waiting for approval to enter the hospital and pray for the people there. Which was actually pretty cool because we got to know the pastor and his kid’s really well. We got to share our stories with them and encourage them. But after two days we were finally given approval to enter the hospital, so we went in and prayed over the men in the cancer ward and the children’s wing. It was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. Walking through praying for these sick people.

When something hit me.

They’re real.

Their stories are real.

And the reality is God is pursuing them the same way He pursues you, me, and everyone.

Up until now I’ve never placed a face on the sickness that is everywhere in the world. But not anymore. I think I know now why God places such value on us visiting the sick. It's because we bring them hope when they need it most. There was a woman in the pediatric ward with her 3 year old daughter who said she had turned from God and didn’t believe anymore. How could she with her daughter always sick. She also said that when we walked in the door she knew that we had brought the presence the God with us. She believes again, and all we had to do was show up for a few minutes. God took care of the rest.

We’ve also been doing a lot of other things in this church with Pastor Salinas. We’ve played soccer with some of the local kids, Jaime and Kayla have had the chance to speak in front of the church (which has about thirty members), and we’ve built relationships with alot of the people from church. Anyways we’re doing all sorts of things with a lot of crazy stuff planned. Again I can’t thank you all enough for your support and prayers.
