When a storm is brewing and the
rain is pouring down on your roof the thunder is pounding all around you and
lightning flashes across the sky, right then when nature is more chaotic than
ever before, when the enemy is trying to use everything to distract you when
your mind is moving a million times a minute. That’s when the God whispers to
you, that’s when he wants to tell you what you need to hear. The question is
not can you hear it–we all know we can–the question is are you willing to
listen and put aside the distractions and the fear of the roaring thunder, and
the crack of the lighting. Are you ready and able to fall to your knees put
your life on pause and listen?
I was recently very ill I was in
the hospital for two days and then had no strength and couldn’t do anything but
lay in bed for the next five. At the beginning of it all I was so upset that I
wouldn’t be able to be out there working with my team, with my squad, helping
them and supporting them. I wanted to
help bring the kingdom to the people of MalayBalay. I didn’t understand–it seemed
like the enemy was winning. When I had a storm raging inside my spirit and I
was being distracted with how much this stay would cost, how am I going to be
able to pay for this. When my spirit was screaming, I heard the Lord’s
whispers.
The next six days I spent listening
to what the Lord was trying to tell me, in my study going through the Bible I
came across a passage in 1 Peter 5:8-9.
The passage depicts the devil as he truly is, a roaring lion seeking someone to
devour. He has been attacking the five
teams that are working here together. The devil has been trying to find someone
to devour he has been prowling around all of us trying so hard to devour us one
by one. As the Lord was showing me this,
I began to get afraid and not understand why he was showing me this. Why were
his whispers making me more afraid? That’s when he told me what I truly needed
to hear.
The Lord has a plan for all of us,
his path for each of us, and while we are all walking the narrow path of faith
and Christianity, each of our paths are designed specifically for each of us. That’s why the Lord was speaking to me, that’s
what he was telling me. He was showing me the path he has laid out for me. He showed me the enemy’s plans–he showed me
what I have to do to refute the lies of the devil, he has been teaching me to
become a soldier, a warrior for him who gave his son for us. A wise man told me
in the L.A.X airport that the Lord had blessed me with being a very passionate
person and he told me the Lord is going to use that, I just have to be ready to
hear how and then have the strength to follow it.
As the Lord spoke to me in the
midst of my spiritual storm I became aware of my reason on this race, for my
team, for my squad. The Lord has blessed me with passion, strength in the face
of adversity, and the determination to keep pressing on when I’m tired and want
only to fall. All of these things I cannot and will not take credit for as it
says in the Bible, “To God be the glory forever and ever amen.” These gifts God
has given me I’m supposed to use to be a solider a warrior for Christ. To help
my brothers and sisters refute the lies of the devil and to stand strong and
defend themselves against the advances of the Devil. He may be a lion prowling
around seeking someone to devour but with the help and strength of the Lord he
will not succeed.
I heard the voice in the midst of
my storm, are you listening and seeking out to find the whispers in yours?
