A book and it’s cover

After some intense travel days my squad made it to Cape Town South Africa. My team and another are living in ocean view. It is a beautiful community. There is lots of history as to how this community was developed that I might explain in another blog but for now I really want to share what my team and I have done in our first week here. We were told that we would be working at Marine Primary school. Automatically I knew I would be happy working with children all month. But you can never judge a book by its cover on the world race. In fact you might just end up making book covers for teachers throughout the week.  School years start in January in South Africa so we were blessed with the opportunity to help teachers prepare there class rooms through covering books. I must admit it was hard being in a class room making book protectors when I knew that there were children next door that I could be with. But before the first day was even over God revealed to me how much he can use our simple task. Most of the teachers at the school are not christian and so when they see us serving them it gives God the opportunity to work on their hearts and have them start conversations with us. I can imagine the number of people who come to minister to the children but how many to the teachers? It is a blessing and such an amazing thing to work with a child and build a relationship but one thing I have learned the hard way is that I will have to leave this beautiful place and its beautiful children at the end of the month. But the teachers stay year after year and will have such an influence on multiple generations of students. What a legacy can be left here in Cape Town if God uses us to minister to adults who can then show the love of Christ to their students year after year. In just a week God   He even blesses us more relationship focused team members with two fifteen minute recess breaks with the students.

I pray that you can find a hidden ministry opportunity this week!

(I will post another blog soon sharing a story of a little boy I have become friends with but I think God has more planned for my little friend so I will wait until I can share the full story! )Free wifi time is running low so until next time thank you all!
