What do the following countries have in common?
South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, India Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Ireland, Ukraine, and Romania?

Not much right? Well, one thing that they all have in common is that they are all part of The World Race January route four race that I am a part of. But how did I get here? Most people call it their Call.. and I could not agree more. This is a little of how my calling happened..

At work when it’s busy and I’m alone and the phone rings, I answer say “thank you for calling” and ask the customer if they can "please hold." Then when its convenient I pickup the phone and focus on what I can do for that customer.

How often has my relationship with God reflected the same steps?
God calls, I hear the calling.. answer it but to focused on the things around me that seem important at the time, and then when that thing.. whatever it may be leaves, or ends then I take the call off hold and finally take action.

God has tugged and tugged on my heart since I returned home from my first mission trip last summer to answer call that was ringing. But the busy things of life stole my focus. Now at work it is not wrong to help a customer who is standing right in front of me, but even as I help that person.. the phone beeps occasionally to remind me someone is on hold waiting for me to answer.

Thank God for that little beep that goes off because I would get so caught up in the task at hand and forget about the call. Thank you Lord that you also send us reminders in life that you have called and waiting for me to answer. Over the last few months God has had the little beep go off in my life to remind me of his calling.

What beeps or call reminders was God sending me?

  • He reminded me that the things that keep me hear in Orlando are not all there is to life.  He let relationships that keep me here fade away.
  • He let my focus of school fade away as he humbled me in academics
  • He also showed me that even though I love my job and have been blessed with amazing bosses that my purpose is not to be stuck there for the rest of my life.

So after everything is settled, I pick up the phone and answer the call.

You know what’s great at work? When a customer as been on hold for awhile, and you finally get to answer the phone but you almost don’t want to because you know they will probably be frustrated, or upset that they were on hold for so long.. But when you pickup the phone apologize for the hold, and the customer kindly says
“Oh you have nothing to worry about I understand that its not easy to balance everything I’m just happy you answered as soon as you did before something else came up, because I know its easy to put off the person you can’t see”
(An actual response from a customer a few days ago).

Thank God that He is even more gracious than the customer on the phone. He kindly showed me that he stayed on the line waiting for me, and he rejoiced that even though it took some time, it did not take any longer.

The World Race is me taking action on what God called has called me to do. I’m so excited to share with the World including you how powerful, and loving God truly is.

Stay tune. Pray. and maybe answer the phone thats ringing in your life.
