Month one is already over?!

Words cannot describe what my team and I experienced this past month.

The twelve of us serving together created a bond that none of us can fully describe.

We partnered with the church we were staying at to reach out and serve the community of Arecibo, Puerto Rico in amazing ways.

The congregation of the church we stayed at blessed us in so many ways, we will never be able to repay them for their kindness.

We found out that days on days of manual labor (cleaning up yards, cutting down trees with machetes, painting, moving trash piles, and.. repeat over and over again) is rewarding and blesses us just as much as it blesses the people we are serving.

A whole new meaning for ‘care for widows in their distress’ was brought to our eyes this month when we helped deep clean and maintain the yard of a sweet woman. As well as simply help take down Christmas ornaments  and sit and talk with her all afternoon.

The youth in Puerto Rico might be more fun to pray with and talk with and love on as American youth!

Evening house visits may seem like they are going to be awkward, but singing with, praying with, encouraging, and eating with people can never go wrong. Some people just need to you sit and talk with them. Why don’t we do that more often for people other than our friends and family.

Speaking in front of a church congregation is nerve wracking, but God speaks through you When you’re willing to be His vessel.

All of what I said above, can be done right where you are.

Don’t put God in a box and wait to leave on a missions trip to do what you can do right now, right where you are.

Here is a video that puts our month into a nut shell!

Enjoy!

We have been at debrief with our whole squad of 47, for the past five days. A time to just rest up and prepare for our next ministry. Tomorrow, February 6th, we are leaving to go up into the mountains of the Dominican Republic for the rest of the month and it looks like we won’t have internet connection the whole time. I will post an update as soon as I can. We will most likely be playing with and loving children who live in the local dump, but things can always change so we aren’t certain how we will be serving until we get there tomorrow.

Prayers for me to stay strong with the first time not having connection with home for a prolonged time (as well as for my family and boyfriend Alex) as well as prayers for my strength as I know my breaking heart process will be sure to begin his month as I see how these precious little children live ever day. I desire to show them and their parents Gods love so that when we leave they will have that to remain with them. (I may just stick a few in my pack and bring them with me!)

Thank you in advance for your love and prayers!

Month TWO on the World Race starts NOW! Dominican Republic here I come 🙂
