The past month has been a crazy whirlwind, hence why it’s been so long since my last blog post. But this last month has been so good.
Before leaving for Guatemala, all World Race squads launching in January met up in Atlanta for a few more days of training and final preparations. It was a great couple of days to re-group and transition into this next season of life.
All packed up and ready to go!
A-Squad arrived in Guatemala City on January 9th, and my team, along with two other teams, took a six hour bus ride into Puerto Barrios where we are working with Casa Verde Ministries for the month. We have a house to sleep in AND running water so it’s been a fairly easy transition into living life out of a backpack.
Home sweet home:)
Casa Verde is involved with so many different types of ministries. We are just about to finish up week two and we’ve already helped out at as special needs school painting and cleaning, done street ministry in the local neighborhoods and around the city, played bingo at a nursing home, spent an afternoon at a children’s hospital, brought meals to families that live at the city dump and helped them sort trash, and have been serving at various church services around the city.
Casa Verde is the only ministry serving in Puerto Barrios so it’s been such a blessing to be able to serve with them and to see how much of a light they are in this city.
I’ll be posting more about the specific ministries in the days to come:)
