Just about everyone in this day and age is familiar with the coined phrase "There's no place like home," from the film classic The Wizard of Oz. Well my mom being the sweet, nostalgic, thoughtful, lovable, creative, considerate, sincere, insightful, I could go on for days, woman that she is, foresaw the BEST homesick gift for my yearlong worldly adventure. A pair of ruby slippers to click together whenever I needed a little taste of home.

And boy can I tell you, that necklace made a world of difference during those months when Internet was literally a hike and a mountain away. I'd simply grab a hold of my necklace, maybe even kiss it, and feel right at home. Even if I couldn't hear from my loved ones at home, I was reminded they weren't that far away.
So naturally when I found out that AIM established a new rule, allowing parents to visit for one week with their children ON THE MISSION FIELD, I was ecstatic. My slippers did their job! For one week I would be reunited with my mom; I was coming home! Praise God for making another thing that seemed impossible, possible!
Remember when I told you how great it was to have my mom come out on the field and visit for one week! (If I haven't told you yet, it was UNBELIEVABLE! Having my mom walk alongside this adventure with me was more than I could have ever asked for. It's one thing to read the blogs, but it's quite another to see it in the flesh. I could never thank you enough Mama for all the sacrifices you've made throughout my life to support me. It means the world to me that you walked with me even in the streets of Romania and I am so thankful for what the Lord is doing in both of our lives. Thank you for being a spiritual role model for me, I am eternally grateful for your example of Christ's character. I LOVE YOU!) Well now you can see all the fun for yourself. A big thanks to Fred and Trish Wassink for working so hard to make a great video keepsake for me to reminisce and for others to experience for the first time. I'm so thankful my mom, and other amazing Racer's parents, got the true World Race experience…we wouldn't be here without you family. Thank you for your continued support. We love and miss you!
