There's a schnauzer where I'm living. She's pretty adorable. Do we know her name? No. So my teammates gave her one. Rosa-Lit-a. She's pretty cute. And really feisty for a tiny thing.
Reminds me of someone I know……..hmmmm ;P
Anywho. I was sitting on some steps a few nights ago after I had attempted the cardio part of Insanity (insert laugh here) and Rosie came trotting up next to me. So naturally I started to pet her. I just sat there and gazed at the sky while I loved on a fuzzy cute creation of the Lord. When I stopped and just rested my hand on her back she twisted around and gave me this look. This look of expectancy. She didn't walk away from me because I suddenly stopped rubbing her. She just stared at me. So I started petting again. She loved it. She was content and happy. So from then on I randomly kept starting and stopping my hand becasue of her initial reaction. I just wanted to see what else she would do. It was always the same response. "Why is your hand not moving?….Why did you stop?"
Instantly the Lord spoke.
This was exactly how we respond to Him.
We run to Him when we want or feel like it; when we're excited to see His face and be in His presence. And yes, He loves on us so much for being there next to Him. He rejoices in the attention. But then after a period of time He just rest with us. He just sits there with His hand on us for love and protection. And what do we do?
We twitch.
We squirm.
We wonder, why isn't the Lord loving on us any more? He was loving me just a few minutes ago, a few days ago. Where is He now? What did I do wrong? How can I fix this?
Be still.
The Lord is always there. As human creations the Lord gave us the gift of feeling and emotion. It's a beautiful thing but it's not something that should control your thoughts and your mind. What the Lord showed me through Rosie was that He is constantly there. He will always have His hand on you if you allow Him. If you run up to Him and ask for His attention, it will always be yours. Just don't expect Him to be moving over you constantly. Love is a choice not just a feeling. Be still and know that He is God.
