I was struggling to get my first video blog uploaded and forgot to post the synopsis! So here it is!
I filmed several different things that have happened since I left for the World Race. This video contains a few snippets from the first 1 month and 11 days. There are actually quite a few things that were not filmed as well, since currently we are in a heavily Islamic community in a sensitive area. I've seen so many amazing sights, sounds, as well as awful smells. Honestly though, it's impossible to share the incredible amount of things God is doing around the world and in the lives of Christians. So I tried to get just a small snippet of it on film. Some Highlights From the Race that I've filmed so far:
In the Philippines we worked a lot with orphans and spent time loving on them
Visited a girls home for sexually abused or abandoned girls. Over 30 rescued girls lived there and are fully adopted into the home. They do need supporters though if anyone wants to help them get a new life and education.
Rode trykes to get around (Dangerous little motorcycle carts, in fact ours hit another once)
Visited two orphanages daily
A teammate tries to eat a fertilized duck egg, the ill-fabled balut. I have devoured two
Fed squatters in villages twice a day
Playing with children and street kids
Buses. Cars. Rail. We travel, a lot.
Doing construction to build a better center for children in Manila
Visiting Word of Life Philippines
Building a pool and waterside. Drowning is a major cause of death so to save kids we educate them on how swim through a pool at a ministry site.
Worship sessions with our host.
I attended a bible conference with thousands of believers
Teaching English and Bible to the Chinese
Cutting the grass with a sickle. I saw somene doing it and laughed at him in the Phillipines, then in Malaysia it was part of my ministry assignment. #Karma
Teaching kindergartners to dance and English. They have a graduation ceremony and we are helping our host with that in Malaysia.
Went camping with our host in Malaysia (He has no community and it has been a huge ministry to each other this last month to just spend time with one another)
Went into caves in Malaysia. They have a ton of bats that do NOT understand personal bubbles. As well as snakes and cave spiders. Now I understand why you fight them in video games.
Monkeys, lots of monkeys, and they are terrifying.
We found an endangered Sea Turtle in a small pool, it was some ones pet.
I fulfilled a lifelong Jr. High dream of seeing the band Relient K. They let us meet them for around 20 minutes because we were American. I also got to pray over them. They are just as awesome in real-life.
A goat being dragged to an altar. We attended a mosque during an Islamic sacrificial holiday. Dozens of animals were slaughtered. I realized how incredibly scary it would be as a child to see that. I really was brought to think of Christ and how He must've seen that growing up and how it would've been so somber and scary before the Passover.
Went to an old British Island in Malaysia and saw YWAM, where they feed the homeless, and help the poor, we took a ferry there at night.
So many more adventures and memories!
That is just some of the things we've done captured on film, we've done much more in the last 41 days and seen God move and work in amazing ways! Thanks everyone for watching!!! If you are thinking about the race, and up late (Because it's like 3:00 A.M. when I post this.) DO IT. DO IT NOW. You WON'T REGRET IT.
