About me…. Hmmmm….

Well my name is Jacob Johnson and I am 21 years old.  I live in Newtown Connecticut, I play guitar and love God.  I have an amazing family: two great parents and three younger siblings.  I went to Porter and Chester Institute for a certificate in Architectural Drafting and Design and graduated in summer of 2011.  Right now I am blessed to have a job at an acoustic engineering firm working as a draftsman.

I am part of two awesome churches:  Stepney Baptist Church in Monroe, CT and Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield, CT.  I play guitar for the morning services at both churches (usually SBC) and then I play fairly often for the college-age night service at BRCC called "Sanctuary".  I also play a few other instruments (poorly): mandolin, banjo, piano and sitar.

I have an amazing and beautiful girlfriend, Rachael Paz (Jacob & Rachael?? Oh come on, you can't tell me that's not awesome).  She has been super supportive of me as I prepare for this, and I am so thankful and blessed to have her.  The cool thing is, she is also going on the World Race, just on a different route.  I am excited for her and for us to grow closer to God!  If you want to look her up or subscribe to her, her blog site is rachaelpaz.theworldrace.org.

From 2009 up to December of 2012 I was in a Christian metal band called Ark of the Covenant (AOTC for short).  AOTC was (and still is) signed to Facedown Records which is a label for Christian metal bands.  My friends and I started the band in 2009 and in 2011 we released a record on FR and in summer of 2011 we started touring the country.  I felt blessed being able to play shows, see the country, meet new people and to preach the gospel.

Now here's where the World Race comes in: last year we played a Christian metal festival, and at this festival I could feel God tugging at my heart.  He desired more for me and wanted me to return to Him.  Very long story short, here I am going on the World Race.  God has called me, and I am excited to follow Him!
