When I was on the World Race, it was easy to remember that I needed to do basic ministry updates. I was reading the blogs of some people in the field yesterday and realized I haven’t given you all a basic update in a while.
This Summer
I led the June 2010 World Race Squad. Hopefully this isn’t new information to you. I shared with you as I traveled. I trekked across eastern Europe, Ireland, and Kenya with roughly fifty amazing young folks. I saw them come alive and discover more of how God gifted them and who He created them to be.
My role involved teaching, preaching, counseling and guiding. I worked with a co-leader to intercede on behalf of the Squad and to petition the Lord for what they needed. We discipled leaders and designed short debriefs between ministry months to encourage and grow our squad. In the process, I discovered more of my unique anointing and received the Lord’s “Father’s Heart”.
Since November
I joined staff with the World Race. I am currently working in the Training and Logistics departments.
With Training, I’m working to further develop an online resource we use to help build community and prepare World Racers for their journey before they are launched into the nations. We use a password-protected website to which the future World Race participants have access. I am working on developing resources for that website to help them prepare spiritually, emotionally, practically, and financially.
In Logistics I am working on policy and procedure for Security Management. As hundreds of young people travel the world with the World Race each year, they encounter all sorts of risk. Our goal is to adequately identify and assess those risks and to put World Race participants in situations where they feel secure. I am working in conjunction with my leadership to establish and articulate policies and procedures to ensure excellent security management across our organization.
The Bigger Vision
I am engaged to be married in late February to the lovely Erin Winget. She and I are beginning to explore what it will mean for us to live and minister together in the coming years. We want to be people who live in authentic relationship with each other and with the people around us. We want to bless all those with whom we come in contact. And we are acting on a word from the Lord to breathe fire wherever we go. We seek Him daily for what the looks like in our current environment.
For the next year, I will be continuing to work with the World Race. Over the last couple years I have been blessed to be a part of this organization. So much of who I am and who I am becoming I owe to the people who have sown into this program. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to work with a community that is laboring to empower a generation of young people through committed discipleship. As you support me spritually, emotionally, and finanacially, you are taking part in this vision. You are a part of helping young folks aged 21-35 journey further into who God has created them to be. You are a part of empowering that generation to be the answer the world and the Church are looking for.
Though I will be working Stateside, in Gainesville, GA, I will continue to live life as a support-based missionary. I currently have just $13,500 left to raise to reach my support goal.
I am looking specfically for people who are willing to make a support commitment of $100 or $200 per month. I am also looking for anyone who would like to make a one-time Holiday season donation of $250, $500, or $1000.
You can make donations and intiate monthly commitments by clicking the “Support Me” tab on the upper left-hand corner of this page.
