So Im back in AMERICA. USA, USA, USA! Ok I will stop with the chant.
I have been home for about a month now and things are going well.
Short side story- I got sick in Kenya and had to fly back home. No worries though, things are better now and Im regaining my strength everyday.
Since being home, I have had a lot of time to reflect about the last 7 months. I have seen and grown so much since January. I have so many stories about how awesome God has worked this year but I would like to tell you about some of my fondest memories with O-squad, My Extended Family.
One of my favorite things to do while on an airplane is to start a conversation with the person next to me. You know how it goes. It usually start off by Whats your name and where you headed? After the normal questions I like to throw them a curveball. I ask What is the most beautiful thing you have seen so far in you life? You should see the some of the faces I get when I ask this question. Can you say shocked.
One man though, by the name of Clarence, a 81 year old veteran, said The smiles of my beautiful grandchildren. I thought to myself I need to hurry up and have some children haha. As our conversation ended, I asked the same question to myself. What are some the most beautiful things I have seen on the race?
Of course I have seen some beautiful things like: sunrises over the shores of El Salvador, beautiful smiles of Gypsy kids when you play soccer until dusk, the beautiful pine trees as they pass me by on a mtn bike, the laugh of a child when they are tickled, and the cries of a women getting prayed over. My favorite though is when O-Squad worships together as unified body of Christ.
Its so beautiful that its hard to describe in words but let me paint you a picture as Hot Rod Mel or Melanie Hariston would say.
O-Squad was at debrief in Antigua, Guatemala. We gathered around in a house with our belly full of pancakes, eggs, and coke. Trying not to puke from over eating we started worship. As we all started to sing, you could feel the Holy Spirit come over all of us. People were singing with all the heart and with so much passion.
No, not everyone was worshiping the same way. Some people were silent, some where screaming to the top of their lungs off key, aka me, but it was true worship.
I open my eyes from worshiping and was immediately in awe. I saw people glowing, crying, laughing, and dancing with the Holy Spirit alive in them. Also, people were speaking life into each other and building one another up by telling them that all the devils whispers have no hold on us. It was simply beautiful. See I want my life to be like that night or like the Psalm 86:12.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
My life will be like that. Yes I might go through some rough times but I know who my beloved is. Glory to God!
O-squad thank you for everything.God blessed me for 7 months of community with these amazing Godly men and women. They have left an imprint on my heart. When I think of O-Squad I think of LOVE.
Guess what though? I have the opportunity to go back and see them at our month 11 debrief. I need your help though. I need to raise more money for my plane ticket to the Philippines.
