“Make sure that no one is immoral and godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal.” (Hebrews 12:16)

Don’t conform. Don’t become so impatient that you decide you’re going to satisfy yourself with a single meal when God has given you a birthright.

God formed us in our mother’s womb. As He did this He played the life He wants to give us in His mind. He watched and enjoyed every part of the life we would live. He gave us a birthright.

But like Esau, we trade in our birthright for a meal, because we are impatient and want to satisfy our flesh right now.

We lose sight of our birthright because our flesh wants this or that. We forget who we are and submit to our flesh. We conform and the life God thought up for us (our birthright) is lost.

But we don’t have to conform. We don’t have to say “yes” to our flesh and give up what God has prepared for each of us. He has a plan for every single one of us.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord. ‘They are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”

What a promise! He has a plan for us that will prosper us, give us hope and a future! What more could we ask for!

We each have been given a birthright. Let us not give it up because we became impatient and conformed.
