On January 22nd, I woke up to the sound of someone singing and it inspired a morning of worship. I asked my teammate Ari if she would like to join me and if she could bring her guitar and she said, “Yes!” She played and we sat under the cross at Khayalethu, our ministry for the month, and that morning the Lord showed me something. I started reading Genesis that morning and the first chapter the Lord spoke to me and I would love to share with you all. The way it will be written is how I responded to the what the Father was teaching me that morning.
“The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” (Genesis 1:2) Before we came to you, you were already there, hovering. Already looking over us and planning out how you would work. You are hovering, you are looking, you are searching for the darkness. You want to create something beautiful and new and I welcome you to do it all, Lord. Work inside and make us new.
“Then God said, ‘Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.’” (Genesis 1:6) [When I read this verse it blew my mind and I stared at the sky for a long time.] So Lord, it is safe to say that the sky is heaven’s ocean. You separate us and make us a little different or a lot different. Earth and Heaven are completely different, yet you allow us to be a part of it here on earth.
“…’Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.’” (Genesis 1:9) You spice it up with our different personalities. Lord, you have a plan and you’re the foundation. You are the cornerstone that will hold us 7 together. You have a plan and a purpose for us all and it WILL come to pass. No enemy can keep you from fulfilling your promise to your children.
“…’Let the land sprout with vegetation – every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.’” (Genesis 1:11) Lord, you look for us and watch over us, then you bring us to you. We no longer see gray, it is now separated, black and white. Then you bring your children together and we pour into one another, The seeds you planted long ago are now bringing watered and are growing. The gifts you gave are coming out. Growing. But we must trust one another.
“…’Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the light. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.’…” (Genesis 1:14-15) You separate us, night and day, but in the darkness we called to shine like stars. To brighten up the darkness. We are build up disciples, not just believers. To grow and multiply the number of those who are on fire for the Lord. We walk on this earth to know the Father and multiply the number of those who know Him.
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1: 27) We were created to be just like him and no one else. We are created in His image. The Holy Spirit is in us and no one can take him away, but the Father. He has equipped us with all that we need to do his work. We just have to obey. “…’Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.” (Genesis 1:29)
The Lord created every single one of us to be a part of his GREAT plan. Not one person placed on this earth is a mistake. The Father has a plan and a purpose for every individual we just have to be willing to hold on to Papa and let him guide us down this path he paved for us. He never promised that it would be easy, but let me tell you it will be SO worth it in the end.
