It’s been amazing and ethereal to be here in Mozambique to attend Harvest School for this season of my life. It’s been quite a dream to be among the selected 300 students representing 42 nations from Estonia to France to USA to Malaysia, united together by our passion for missions and seeing the Holy Spirit move in miraculous ways.

We long to see the deaf, lame, blind healed. We long to see the nations come to repentance. We long to see children with loving families. We long to see women with faithful husbands. We long to see the hungry fed.

We long for intimacy and crave for teaching from those that have gone ahead of us.

We are all so different, but we have the same hearts.

I’ve been meeting some incredible 18 year olds walking in healing and prophetic gifts in ways I’ve never seen before, and also some humble 40 year olds that have left their jobs and comforts to be.

I live with 12 other women, in the same house that I sat in 2 months ago when I first submitted my application to Harvest School. As I type this, I’m sitting in the same spot I sat in August when I first pulled up the application prompted by my now house mom to apply swiftly.

I’m growing in more freedom and confidence in Christ everyday. He’s been speaking to me through dreams, through images, through His word and through others.

Heidi Baker just arrived a few days ago and we had our first teaching by her last week(what a down to earth and endearing woman) and she preached at church today. One thing she said in class that stuck to me is: “My greatest secret as a laid down lover is surrender. “

Out in the Bush Bush

I was among the very first team of Harvest School students to go out and do outreach in the Mozambican bush bush (one of the most adventurous and hardcore ministries in this area) just two days after I arrived at Harvest School, talk about having to unpack and pack again right quick. While there, a little Mozambican girl from that village hugged me tight while we waited to watch the Jesus film and I felt the Father’s love through her sweet affection to me as if saying “Jackie, you are my beloved daughter and in the simplicity of this moment, I just want you to feel my love through this child. “. Thank you Jesus for a huge surge of the Father’s unconditional love and approval through this little girl.

My color group leader and I prayed for a teenage boy with gray colored blockage in his pupil, and after praying, he said his eye sight got better.

I confess, I’m THAT girl that brought her makeup to the bush bush outreach. Don’t mock me so soon, God totally used it, I got to do makeup for the bride at the wedding we attended. They told us to pray for what to pack for the bush bush, God is fun that way!

Village Outreach

We walked through a nearby village next to the Iris base, and prayed for a woman with a tummy-ache. Her pain was gone immediately as we prayed. I then asked her if she knew Jesus, she shook her head. Through a translator I told her about a person named Jesus and how He as the Son of God came to earth from His throne in heaven to forgive us and love on us. She accepted Christ then and there as I led her in a prayer of salvation!

Deaf Ear Opened

My 19 year old roommate has a call of intercessory prayer and healing on her life and I’ve gotten to partner with her in praying for other students since we’ve arrived. Two nights ago, as we prayed for our other roommate, she was healed of her deaf ear. Read more here.

My season at Harvest School is about “rest”, resting after being on the World Race, resting in the Father’s arms, learning His love and creating new intimacy. Please continue to pray for me as I pray for greater intimacy with the Father, for me to get on a fast trajectory of learning what His love and godly justice looks like practically and to receive a clear call for the next season of my life.

I am also excited to join Iris Arts for the next few months as my practical missions assignment. Every Friday morning I get to spend time at the Iris Arts center making jewelry, art pieces, and Mozambican crafts, and building relationship with Mozambican women (many are single with several children). Let me know if you want to buy anything while I’m here to support Iris Ministries.

There are also many Chinese men in town for long term business (one guy from Hong Kong gave us a ride to the grocery store yesterday, he didn’t speak English, only Chinese and I was the one he could communicate with), please pray that I get to use my culture, language and background and join the Mandarin speaking students in reaching out to them. Heidi has a vision of us reaching out to the Chinese people in town and using English teaching and Bible teaching to evangelize to them. How cool would it be if they come to know Christ while doing business here?

Oh, and Heidi had a vision of a flood of IT people coming to Iris Ministries. They need IT experts here. If you are one, please pray and come!

Until next time.. Shalom!

“What does it mean to be poor in spirit? Thee is something about the poor that delights the heart of God. They are contrite. They know they are in need. But what is it about them that draws the kingdom of JGod to Earth? The answer to this lies in their depency, hunger, need and desperation.
