While on Month 7 of my Race in Cambodia (in April), a vision was laid on my heart of filming a L Squad video in Ankor Wat. After praying about it, the idea kept coming up so much where I found myself thinking about it at all hours of the day and night. I was too scared to share with my team, but when I finally gathered up the courage and told them, instead of thinking they'd laugh at my silly ideas, they gathered around me, embraced me and encouraged me to move forward with this dream.
So, with newfound support from my beautiful teammates Stephanie, Michelle, Shari, Sage, Kaitlyn and Mary B., it started with me sending an email pitching the idea to the squad leaders, then gathering a creative team on the squad (the talented Emily and Noah), a brainstorming session with Media track people, and going to town with the rest of the details.
What's my Inspiration? Since Month 1 in Guatemala of having all 57 of us under the same roof, each person on my Squad laid down their deepest and darkest secrets even in the first week of living life together. I found that each person has such powerful and unique stories that testifies to a God who sets us FREE.
Being on the race for eight months now, the danger is running the rest of it in complacency and letting our God-sized stories go to obscurity. Even before the making of this video, I hoped that it will give the squad the voice we need to fight complacency and make our stories public to the world. We are voices of freedom as our lives are completely transformed by Him.
Especially now, we cannot remain silent.
Somehow, I don't know how, every single detail regarding the making of the video got taken care of, Emily Chant stepped up to co-produce and co-direct the video with me, Noah stepped up with his solid filming and editing skills, the entire squad stepped forward with testimonies, bold and daring ones!
And there we were, spending a scorchingly hot (and sweaty) afternoon on location filming in Angkor Thom, one of the most famous temples in Angkor Wat, with onlooks passing by and stealing curious looks and watching each person stand in public with their visual declarations.
Somehow, it worked out beautifully; a three person film crew, a 57 person acting crew, and a God that fullfills dreams from a small vision.
Without further adieu, here's the video, dedicated to a God that sets us free.
Enjoy and share it with someone.
