“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”

I will start off with my story and how much change I have endured. Ever since I was little I was raised to believe that you should go through grade school, get to college, get a job, start a family, go to church every once in a while, and keep going through these routines until you die. I wish I could go back to tell myself those ideas were completely wrong. No matter who we are, where we come from, or where we are going everyone that has a beating heart is and always will be going through change. When I was a kid I thought I was going to have a pretty normal life of getting good grades, having parents always by my side, good friends and for God to give me the thumbs up stamp on my entrance to heaven. Well, I never had a solid group of friends for probably no more than 2-3 years at a time, I kind of sucked at school, my parents got a divorce, and now I’m traveling through 3rd world countries to share about the God who has helped me through so many hardships and changes.

I like change now, I know I dropped some deep stuff in the last sentence but because nothing has stayed the same I’m used to change now. It’s kind of funny how the most constant thing in my life is change. I believe God likes change too, 2 Corinthians 3:18 states “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”  God’s change is good and it is used to make us look more like him. Although the circumstances I faced were challenging and I would never wish them upon anyone, the end result was good. Without those hardships, I would not have found safety and reliance in the name of Jesus. I would not have a relationship with God unless change was made, so that is why his son was sacrificed. Change may always be evident but one thing that will always stand still is the warm, loving embrace that we can only get from God.

I am always open for change because I know it’s going to happen sooner or later in one way or another. You don’t have to be afraid of your transition from home to college, you don’t have to shut the world out when your significant other has dumped you, you never have to be afraid because the only change God is going to put in your life is a change that will bring you closer to him. Even if it seems like it’s the end of the world, it is not, I promise. Make God the closest thing in your life because if you have him with you during your changes and hardships it will make things so much easier. Be open, be accepting and then be comforted by our Lord.

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
