I’m laying in my hammock, thinking about the last month. This month has been better than I ever could have imagined. I’ve done so many different types of ministry this month, been put outside my comfort zone plenty of times, and have fallen in love with this country.
Currently I am sitting in my hammock alone in my room (yes, alone. That’s not a commonly used word here on the race at all) trying to rest and get over the Chikungunya virus. I woke up last night at about 2:30 in pain all over my body, in every joint.
My first thought: I’m okay with this.

That doesn’t make sense, does it?

I’ve been on a mission trip alone before.
I’ve been sick on a mission trip alone.
And while Chikungunya makes me feel like a 90 year old woman, knowing that I’m not alone in this makes it okay.
Knowing my team is there to check up on me
Knowing some of them have the same virus
Knowing we’re all in this together
It makes it okay.
Life is life.
Ya get sick sometimes
No, I haven’t been my full 100% self during ministry the last two days.
But when I think about the month, all the things our team went through, all the growing we did as a team, I can’t help but be amazed.
And this is only month 1!

So what has my month looked like?
