For those who have been asking let me break it down for ya
This is my SQUAD! (D SQUAD: Dauntless, Daring, Dangerous, Da best)
Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind.
I will be travelling to every country with these gems. Every few months we will have debrief for a few days and will spend that time together as well.
MONTH 2: Haiti
I will be doing ministry with the whole squad!!!
Our squad is split into different teams (6-8 people per team)
My team is called 3D

Kayla VanEs
Homegirl is from CANADA! She totally fooled half of our squad into thinking she had a British accent. She’s a lot of fun to be around, super kind, welcoming, and friendly. She speaks in movie quotes which makes me so incredibly happy. AND she likes Sclub 7! She is also our fearless team leader and I’m so excited to be her friend.
Andrew Parkin
Andrew is a wonderful man. We already found out that we have the same personality traits ISFJ’s UNITE! He also just got his masters in education so we have that teacher bond going on as well. Andrew can liven up a party with his “Get Loose. Get Funky” song and dance routine. He is very wise and I know he’ll challenge our team in a lot of ways over the next year.
Miranda Dinges
I’m not sure how to pronounce Miranda’s last name but I like to say it in an Australian accent. Miranda is very kind hearted but won’t sugar coat things. She’s going to challenge our team in great great ways. She’s very wise and I’m sure we will be having a lot of deep theological conversations in our future which gets me really excited!
Troy Smouse
Troy. What to say about Troy. We connected early via snap chat. Troy is just so much fun to be around. He can liven up a room as soon as he walks in. He’s one of the most caring people I’ve met. He gave away a lot of his things he brought to those who didn’t have anything or were cold. He’s always the first one to volunteer to help, including diving into the lake multiple times and then FINDING one single key that was lost the night before. So obviously Troy is great, but I’m really glad he’s on my team because he reminds me of my big brother whom I will miss a lot while I’m on the race. I’m really looking forward to becoming even better friends over the next year!
Ashley Zablocki
Guys…this girl right here….we bout to have a party over the next year. She is hilarious, obviously, and brings so much life to a group. I had the pleasure of sharing my tent with her for about 2 1/2 hours before she almost died of frost bite. (You can die from that, right?)
Some of our common interests are quoting movies, singing childhood songs, and poptarts. 😉
I know on the race when I’m feeling upset or lethargic she will be there to crack a joke and do the worm while singing twinkle twinkle little star for a rice krispy treat. Lots of laughter will be had with her. That’s a promise.
Kerry Kennedy
This is Kerry. This picture totally captures her personality. She is seriously one of the sweetest, most positive people I have ever met. We are actually complete opposites we are discovering. She loves vegetables–I’m not a fan. She loves running–I…don’t. She is great at giving speeches and talking to random strangers anywhere she is. She is so full of joy all the time AND I LOVE IT! Out of all the people on this team I see her and the qualities and gifts God has given her and I know she will be so challenging to me–physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She’s so funny and loveable and I’m ready to be back in her presence, like yesterday.
As ya’ll can see I totally hit the jackpot with my team. I hope and pray I can be every bit of encouraging, friendly, loving, and challenging to them as they are to me. I love them so much!
